YBI RETREAT 2025

Living Lights in Dark Days

1st Peter
We look forward to a wonderful retreat again this year!  Below are a few notes for parents and students as well as some helpful links as you prepare for the retreat.  Parents, we know it is a weighty matter to entrust your child(ren) to our supervision.  We do not take that responsibility lightly and trust the following information will be helpful as we partner with you for this event.
  • Packing: A suggested packing list is linked below.  Please keep modesty in mind as you help your child (both young men and young ladies) pack for the retreat.  Students will be asked to change if anything is deemed immodest by a leader, so please plan (or shop) accordingly. Men should keep their shirts on even during athletic activities (except swimming).  Fireworks and sparklers are prohibited at the camp.
  • Phones: We typically have good cell service at the retreat and students are welcome to bring a phone (with parental permission, of course).  Students should plan to keep their phones in their rooms most of the time and limit their use to parent communication, photos during activities, etc.
  • Supervision: Students are supervised most every minute and should not be in the cabins alone.  You must let your cabin leader know if you have any special need or situation, or if you need to leave the area where you are expected to be (even during scheduled "free time").  More specifics will be announced throughout our time at the retreat.
  • Leaders: Every adult leader is required to pass a background check and complete a child safety training before serving in YBI.  Each one is also required to be a member in good standing…each of whom have demonstrated faithful service to the Lord.
The focus of YBI:
  • To deepen their knowledge of the Bible
  •  Provide training and instruction in the Christian faith
  •  To “always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks […] a reason for the hope that is in [them], with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15)
  •  Cultivate a Christian worldview in students through biblical instruction and application of God’s Word
